US surf event on hold again

Mick Fanning will have to wait longer before resuming his world title quest at Trestles in southern California.

Mick Fanning's quest for surfing's world title at Trestles in southern California has been delayed again with a lay day called at the event.

Second-ranked Fanning is scheduled to face countryman Adrian Buchan in a quarter-final in his pursuit of a fourth world crown.

Joel Parkinson is the only other remaining Australian man and he faces Brazil's Filipe Toledo.

In the women's event, Australian rookie Dimity Stoyle faces a nervous wait before meeting Hawaiian ace Carissa Moore in the semi-finals.
