Heard the one about the Olympic champion swimmer who wants to one day race a V8 Supercar?
It might sound like the start to a bad joke but, if he gets his way, it's exactly the path American 200m backstroke champion Tyler Clary wants his sporting career to take.
The 2012 London gold medallist made the most of a trip to Australia to take a spin in a V8 following last week's Pan Pacific Championships on the Gold Coast.
Clary spent Thursday ripping around the V8 Supercars Official Driving Experience course in Queensland behind the wheel of a Holden Commodore - the first time he had taken control of a right-hand drive vehicle.
A part-time racer out of the pool in his native United States, the 25-year-old wants to quit swimming after the 2016 Rio Olympics and pursue a motorsports career.
While the American NASCAR series was his primary goal, he said he wouldn't turn down an offer to race in Australia if given the opportunity.
"V8 Supercars is a definite option in the future. I would like to come down to Australia and race some more," Clary said.
"The V8 Supercars series is huge here in Australia and I watch it whenever I can back home.
"When I finish swimming after Rio - I really want to be in a position where I can get paid to race cars for a living - that would be the goal.
"We're currently looking at both the IndyCar and NASCAR scenes in the States right now but, if we could do something down here in V8 Supercars, I would definitely be interested."
