A white reserve sheriff's deputy accidentally fatally shot a black suspect when he intended to use his stun gun, US authorities say.
A video of the incident earlier this month has emerged, showing the deputy chase and tackle 44-year-old Eric Harris, who they accuse of trying to sell an illegal gun to an undercover officer.
A gunshot then rings out and a man is heard to say: "Oh, I shot him. I'm sorry."
An investigator says the deputy suffered a phenomenon in which his behaviour "slipped" off the intended course of action because it was "captured" by a stronger response.
