V8 Supercars have locked in a street race for Kuala Lumpur in August.
Releasing their 2016 schedule on Tuesday, the Malaysian capital's race becomes the latest foray overseas for the Australian championship after previous visits to China, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
The championship will also feature shorter breaks between events and a four-week mid-season hiatus before winding up a week earlier with the Sydney 500 from November 25 to 27.
"This more compact calendar delivers consistent and regular events throughout the season and expands the championship into Asia in what is a truly exciting development for the sport," V8 Supercars chief executive James Warburton said.
"A more condensed calendar will help build even more momentum and still provide adequate breaks for the teams and drivers."
Warburton believed a demonstration event featuring five cars in Kuala Lumpur earlier this year had proven there is an appetite for the championship in the Asian country.
He also is hopeful Australian fans will use the event as a chance to travel to Malaysia.
"Malaysians were genuinely excited to see our five cars race through the streets of KL and we can only imagine their reaction when the full field is on the grid next year," he said.
"We expect up to 10,000 Australians to travel to Kuala Lumpur for the event which will also build exposure for V8 Supercars across Asia."
The 2016 championship will start with the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide from March 3 to 6.
