Vance Joy has taken out the prestigious APRA Song of the Year Award for his catchy track, Riptide.
Joy's song was the unofficial soundtrack for last summer and even topped triple j's Hottest 100 for 2013.
He also won Pop Work of the Year.
Following Joy, the awards' other recipients showed the breadth of influence and talent in the Antipodean music scene with young Kiwi star Lorde awarded the Outstanding International Achievement Award alongside her co-writer Joel Little.
Global hitmaker Sia won the Songwriter of the Year award for the second year running and is the first songwriter to win the award two years in a row.
"I am so honoured to be the first songwriter in APRA Awards history to win Songwriter of the Year two years in a row!" Sia said.
"Thank you so much for recognising my work, and hope to see you all soon," she said, as she was not able to make the awards ceremony, which was held on Monday night.
Neither Joy nor Lorde attended the awards either.
Perth band Birds Of Tokyo won the Rock Work of the Year and also the Most Played Australian Work of 2013 for their song Lanterns.
The Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year Award went to Louis Schoorl, who wrote or co-wrote 88 songs in 2013 alone and has collaborated with Australian acts including 360, Daniel Johns and Jessica Mauboy.
The awards ceremony was held in Brisbane, home to the recipient of the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Services to Australian Music, Go-Betweens drummer Lindy Morrison. The award was presented to her by her bandmate, Amanda Brown.
RocKwiz's Brian Nankervis hosted the awards which featured performances from Sheppard, Gossling and Megan Washington. Go-Betweens members Morrison, Brown and Robert Vickers played their song People Say alongside Melbourne band Big Scary.
In a tribute to the Masters Apprentices frontman Jim Keays, who recently lost his battle with multiple myeloma, Carol Lloyd and her band performed the Apprentices hit Because I Love You.
