Officials in Vanuatu are still awaiting word on the extent of the disaster they're facing, after being hit by severe Tropical Cyclone Pam late last week.

The cyclone is known to have caused extensive damage on many islands - but only limited information has so far been received from outlying areas.

SBS journalist Stefan Armbruster is in Vanuatu, and spoke with Peggy Giakoumelos.
