For the first time in history, the Vatican has allowed a group to hire out the Sistine Chapel.

Car-maker, Porsche took advantage of the offer, which is part of Pope Francis' Art-for-Charity project.

Porsche enthusiasts paid almost $7000 per person to attend a concert and private tour of the chapel, which features Michelangelo's famous painted ceiling.

The Sistine Chapel has hosted concerts before but only for private audiences of the Pope.

During the peak summer season, it's estimated around 20,000 people will visit the chapel every day, with up to 2,000 at a time.

The Vatican says the chapel recieves around 6 million visitors each year.

Funds raised through the event will go directly to charity.
