The anxious wait is over for thousands of Victorian school leavers receiving their final results.

Victorian Certificate of Education results were released at 7am on Monday.

Deputy Premier and Education Minister James Merlino was quick to congratulate students.

"Completing VCE is one of life's great moments and I want to congratulate the class of 2014 for reaching this milestone," he said.

"Thousands of parents and teachers across the state are proud of these young men and women today - and with good reason."

This year 49,204 students graduated with their VCE while 12,926 received their Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning.
