A vet skolling back a beer before turning to work on a dog is the latest comparison to drink driving in a new Tasmanian campaign.
The Road Safety Advisory Council campaign launched the new anti drink driving advertisement on Sunday.
"Performing your work as a vet is complex task and requires a high level of concentration, driving is too," council chair Garry Bailey said in a statement.
"We'd be shocked if our vet drank while he or she worked because we know alcohol reduces concentration and reaction time, and can cause blurred vision and inattention. You're a crash waiting to happen if you drive after drinking."
Mr Bailey said alcohol was a factor in 17 per cent of serious casualty crashes, including fatalities.
