Evergreen former Wallaby Radike Samo will resurrect his career in Australia with the Melbourne Rebels for the 2015 Super Rugby season.

The 38-year-old, who has 23 Test caps, has spent the past two seasons playing Japanese club rugby.

Samo said he wanted "one final crack at Super Rugby" after winning titles with the Brumbies (2001, 2004) and Queensland in 2011.

"I am very keen to give Super Rugby one last shot and I feel I have a lot to offer," Samo said.

"Watching from Japan, it's clear that the Rebels are working really hard to build a competitive and professional rugby team and everybody I spoke to had no hesitation in recommending that I sign."

Coach Tony McGahan said Samo's experience and versatility - able to play in the back-row, lock and even on the wing - would be an asset for the Melbourne side.

He made 64 Super Rugby appearances with the Brumbies and Queensland before departing the Reds for Japan after the 2013 season.

He scored tries in games either side of Christmas in 2014, as his second season with Kinetsu Liners came to an end last weekend.

Samo also hoisted the Top 14 title during two years in France with Stade Francais (2006-2007), and played for former Japanese Top League side Yokogawa Musashino Atlastars from 2007-2010.

"Radike has been a strong contributor to every environment he has been within, with a majority of those environments being winning squads," McGahan said.

"Someone of Radike's experience, who has enjoyed as much success as he has, will obviously be a fantastic addition to this young playing roster on and off the field."

Samo will arrive in Melbourne later this month.
