Veteran Stosur finds form on Spanish grass

Samantha Stosur is into her first grass-court quarter-final in seven years after dispatching Spain's Lara Arruabarrena in straight sets at the Mallorca Open.

Former US Open winner Samantha Stosur has won back-to-back matches on grass for the first time since 2015 after beating Lara Arruabarrena in straight sets to advance to the quarter-finals of the Mallorca Open.

The world No.98 won 6-3 6-4 against the Spaniard to qualify for her first grass-court last-eight match since Eastbourne in 2011, the year of her Flushing Meadows triumph.

She will face either Polona Hercog or Alison Riske - who play on Thursday - for a place in the semi-finals.

Top seed Caroline Garcia also moved through the draw with a straight-sets win over Sweden's Johanna Larsson.

Garcia's 6-4 6-3 win set up a last-eight clash with American qualifier Sofia Kenin.
