Adelaide could revive the AFL career of veteran Scott Thompson in a bid to reverse its alarming form slump.
Thompson, 34, hasn't played an AFL game this season but is in the selection frame for Saturday's MCG fixture against Carlton.
The Crows won their opening six matches but have since lost four of their past seven.
Thompson had off-season shoulder problems but is working his way into a solid block of state league form.
"Thommo adds a lot to our group," teammate Daniel Talia told reporters on Wednesday.
"He has come off a pretty tough pre-season so it has taken him a while to get going but I definitely think he's at the level now."
The Crows are also considering Mitch McGovern, missing since hurting a hamstring in round three, for an AFL return - he has played consecutive state league games.
"Gov was good on the weekend again and that's two good games from him now," Talia said.
"He adds a lot of our forward line when' he's in. That will be up to coaches whether he's ready or not.
"But he's an exciting player, he brings a different dynamic to our forward line .. he's a unique player."
The Crows were stunned on home turf by Hawthorn last start and lost top spot.
But Talia was adamant the fourth loss in seven outings wasn't a case of rivals figuring out how to halt Adelaide.
"It's not about other teams working us us out," he said.
"It's about the way we want to play. And if we're not doing it to the level, the result is on us, not on other teams."
The fullback called for some perspective about the second-placed Crows, noting the even nature of the competition this season.
"We know we are probably not playing our best footy the last seven weeks," Talia said.
"But it's such an even year that we have just got to get going now and anything can happen.
"We're still in a good spot. We're still nine (wins) and four (losses) and ready to attack the second half of the year."
