Vic boy injured by falling branch

A Victorian boy has suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a fallen branch.

An eight-year-old boy has serious head injuries after being hit by a falling branch in coastal Victoria.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen says emergency crews were called to Erskine Falls, near Lorne, about 11am on Friday.

"A young boy had received a laceration to the back of his head from a falling tree or branch," Mr Mullen told AAP.

"He was treated and taken to Lorne Hospital where he is being treated in preparation to send him to Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital."

The boy was in a serious but stable condition.
