Vic bushfire app ready for summer blazes

Victoria has launched an app for residents to use during the bushfire season so they can keep up to date with the latest warnings.

Victoria's new bushfire emergency app can send more than 1.2 million notifications a minute, as the state readies for another dangerous fire season.

Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley says despite bouts of cold weather, Victorians should get the Vic Emergency app to get ready for another summer of fires.

"We're going to have a more traditional summer, so December, January, February... it will kick off next week in the northwest," Mr Lapsley told reporters on Wednesday.
