Vic government fed election ads examined

The Victorian government's election campaign ads attacking federal funding have been referred to the state's public sector commission for examination.

A Victorian government ad campaign targeting federal funding during the Australian election is to be scrutinised over a possible breach of the state's public administration act.

The Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission on Tuesday issued a statement saying it had asked the public sector commission to "provide advice" after examining the ads.

"Should it identify any matters which may constitute corrupt conduct by any public sector employee," it should inform IBAC.

The watchdog will then determine what further action is required.

The Victorian opposition asked IBAC to examine the behaviour of the secretaries of departments including premier and cabinet, treasury and health and education over the campaign.
