Vic govt praises courage of crash family

The family of Carol and Greig Friday, killed in the French Alps plane crash, has shown great courage, Victoria's premier says.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has praised the courage of the family of Carol and Greig Friday, after the mother and son were killed in the French Alps plane crash.

The 68-year-old Ashwood woman and her 29-year-old son died when the Germanwings flight crashed on Tuesday night.

Mr Andrews said his department had contacted the family, but he was cautious not to intrude on their grief.

"They've shown great courage, I think, in their statements and the way they approached these most difficult 24 hours they've ever faced," Mr Andrews told reporters on Thursday.

"I don't think any of us can really imagine just how terrible things would be for that family at the moment."

Mr Andrews said the family was getting consular support, and he pledged his government would be there for them too.

"Anything we can, however small, we're there to support the family," he said.
