Vic health service in crisis over debt

A regional Victorian health service will have to close if it doesn't receive emergency funding.

A regional Victorian hospital experiencing a multi-million dollar debt crisis is in danger of closing or significantly cutting its services.

The community-run Ballan District Health and Care will soon meet with the Victorian Department of Health about its need for immediate financial support, the Herald Sun reports.

The health service which is an hour-and-a-half drive west of Melbourne employs 183 staff and provides aged care, a GP clinic, hospital care, X-ray services, dental, indoor pool facilities, child care and in-home support.
