Victorian Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews has committed a future state Labor government to providing $30 million in taxpayer assistance for fruit processor SPC Ardmona.
"If we could do more, we'll look at that," he told reporters in Shepparton where he visited the SPC plant with federal Labor leader Bill Shorten.
SPC and the thousands of jobs that rely on it were too important to lose, Mr Andrews said.
He called on Premier Denis Napthine to match the Labor offer.
"Our announcement today sends a firm signal to SPC and its parent company Coca-Cola Amatil that should Labor be elected in November we're willing to support their long-term viability in the Goulburn Valley."
