A 75-year-old Melbourne man has been charged with child stealing and false imprisonment.

The Dandenong man was arrested after an alleged incident at a Pakenham reserve on Sunday morning.

He is expected to front Dandenong Magistrates' Court on Monday morning.

The child's age is unknown.
