A plasterer has admitted stabbing a Melbourne husband and wife to death in their lounge room as their young children slept just metres away.
Police found the bodies of Gregory Tucker, 54, and Korinne Aylward, 35, in their Moonee Ponds home in December 2013 and their three children - aged between two and five - unharmed in another room.
Mustafa Kunduraci, 46, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to two charges of murder over the deaths in the Victorian Supreme Court.
He had been due to face trial next month for the killings after previously pleading not guilty.
An earlier court hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court heard Kunduraci, of Meadow Heights, and Mr Tucker had been in a dispute about plastering work.
Mr Tucker said the job was sloppy while Kunduraci claimed he hadn't been paid.
Kunduraci claimed the couple owed him tens of thousands of dollars, and went to their home with a backpack containing a knife, cable ties, duct tape and a bottle of petrol, the court heard.
A solicitor who had been hired to mediate the dispute between the Kunduraci and the couple told police Kunduraci had said he would make the couple suffer.
"One day I am going to f*** them up. I have an insanity report and nothing major will happen to me. I will get off," Kunduraci told the solicitor, according to court documents.
Witnesses reported seeing a man standing outside the couple's house covered in blood on December 8, 2013 - the night of the killing.
A pathologist told the Melbourne Magistrates Court the husband and wife were both stabbed more than 20 times and died from chest wounds.
Kunduraci will return to court next month for a pre-sentence hearing.
