Vic man arrested for upskirting

A Victorian man has been arrested for allegedly upskirting up to 20 women at a suburban Melbourne shopping centre.

A man has been arrested over a series of upskirting offences at a Melbourne shopping centre.

Police say the man's female victims were unaware of what he was doing when he filmed about 20 women at Fountain Gate shopping centre between 12.30pm and 2.30pm on Monday.

The man allegedly put his black backpack on the ground near skirt-wearing victims and as he picked up the backpack he used a small video camera to commit the offences, police say.

Security staff notified police and the 49-year-old Pakenham man was arrested as he was getting into his car in the shopping centre carpark.

A video camera allegedly found in the man's possession showed that there may be nearly 20 victims still to be identified by police.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the shopping centre on Tuesday to come forward.
