Vic man blackmailed after using dating app

Victoria Police has released images of a man they want to speak to after a 29-year-old man told them he was blackmailed over his use of a popular dating app.

A Melbourne man has allegedly been blackmailed after using a popular dating app.

Police say the 29-year-old victim was messaging various people via the app when another man threatened to disclose his activities to another person unless he paid him a substantial amount of money.

The victim met the other man at the Southern Cross railway station on Friday, March 2, just after 4pm, and handed over the cash.

Police have released images of the man they want to speak and have described him as 181cm tall, with a slim build, aged in his late 20s with blonde/brown messy hair and ink-purple painted fingernails.

He was described as was wearing brown cargo pants, a dark coloured hooded top and carrying a brown satchel bag across his body.
