A police chase in Melbourne's northern suburbs has ended in a crash, with the driver being charged with a string of offences.

A 24-year-old man has been charged after a police chase in Melbourne ended in a crash.

Police say officers tried to stop a car in the city's north on Sunday night but it kept speeding away until it smashed into a traffic signal and another car.

The driver wasn't seriously injured in the Pascoe Vale crash.

He has been charged with reckless conduct endangering a person, disqualified driving and several other offences.
