Vic man charged over fatal hit-and-run

A 46-year-old man has been charged over a fatal hit-and-run where a taxi driver was struck by a car in Melbourne.

A man has been charged over a hit-and-run which killed a Melbourne taxi driver.

Police say the taxi was rear-ended at Brighton East about 1am on Sunday.

Minutes later the taxi driver was standing behind the second car when he was struck by a third car.

The man, in his 60s, was crushed between the two vehicles and died at the scene.

The driver of the third car ran off, police said.

A 46-year-old man from Templestowe has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, culpable driving, failing to stop after a collision, five counts of reckless conduct endangering life and unlicensed driving.

He will face an out of sessions remand hearing on Monday evening.
