A Melbourne man has been found guilty of murder after a violent fight with his partner ended in her death.

Steve Ray Cook, from Hampton Park, has been found guilty by a Victorian Supreme Court jury of the murder of Sharnee Ngatai, 23.

Police were called to the couple's Hampton Park home in January last year where they found Ms Ngatai suffering serious injuries.

She was rushed to hospital but died a short time after.

Cook, 23, did not react as the verdict was read.

He will face a plea hearing later this year.
