A man sprayed with acid in an industrial accident has been discharged from a Melbourne hospital.
The 30-year-old was hit with acrylic acid when a 1000-litre chemical tank ruptured at a Sunshine West factory on Tuesday morning.
The acid hit him on the face, neck, chest and arms and he was immediately put in a shower to reduce the burning on his skin.
An ambulance spokesman said it was lucky he was wearing protective goggles or the acid would have damaged his eyes.
He was taken to The Alfred hospital with burns in a stable condition and was later released.
A second worker was treated at the scene for minor burns on his hands.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade used soda ash to neutralise the acid and has been monitoring the air for vapour.
