Vic man 'said he shot vampire gigolo'

A man told his ex-girlfriend he shot a self-proclaimed vampire in the head, a Melbourne court has heard.

A man told his ex-girlfriend he murdered the self-proclaimed vampire gigolo standing trial for her rape, a Melbourne court has been told.

Shane Chartres-Abbott, 28, was gunned down near his Reservoir home in June 2003, as he faced trial for allegedly raping a woman and biting off part of her tongue.

The woman's ex-boyfriend Mark Adrian Perry, 46, and two other men, Warren Shea, 42, and Evangelos Goussis, 46, have all pleaded not guilty to his murder.

The woman said that years after the shooting, Perry told her that he killed Mr Chartres-Abbott.

"He said he was the one who killed that man," she told the Victorian Supreme Court on Monday.

"He said that he locked that man's head with his arm and that he shot that man's head."

Under cross-examination from defence barrister Michael Tovey SC, the woman agreed that she thought Perry was showing off at the time.

The woman told the court she was a former client of Mr Chartres-Abbott and that he had previously told her he was a vampire who was older than the city of Melbourne.

She said she could not recall the attack and had awoken in hospital the next day.

Prosecutor Andrew Tinney SC has previously told the trial that Perry and Shea organised for Goussis and another man to kill Mr Chartres-Abbott in an act of vengeance.

Mr Chartres-Abbott's de facto partner Kathleen Price told the court that on the day of the shooting, she saw two men with their faces covered running towards the home.

She said she saw a gun before she was knocked to the ground.

"I heard (Shane) say `oh my god' and I heard shots," she said.

"I could see blood coming out of his throat."

The trial before Justice Lex Lasry continues.
