Vic police face hearing over death

Victoria Police officers who released a man from custody hours before his death will face a disciplinary hearing.

Four Victoria Police officers have been charged with discipline offences over the death of a Chinese man who died after being released from custody.

Gong Ling Tang, 53, died of a gastrointestinal haemorrhage in hospital in May 2010, hours after he was released on bail from Dandenong police station.

Victoria Police said the officers will now face a disciplinary hearing.

A spokesman said on Friday it would be inappropriate to comment further while the matters, which are also before the Coroners Court, remain pending.
