Victoria Police roll out ticketing system in bid to curb 'racial profiling'

Seven years ago, 19 African-Australian men took Victoria Police to the Federal Court, alleging that police were targeting some people based on their appearance, rather than their actions.

That is, so-called, racial profiling.

The action eventually resulted in police admitting to racial profiling and announcing a three-year plan to tackle the problem.

One of those measures includes an Australian first police receipt pilot program will be rolled out in parts of Melbourne today.

Santilla Chingaipe has been following the story and she spoke to Peggy Giakoumelos.
