Allegations that prison officers are being hazed could see the corrections system charged, Victoria's WorkSafe Minister Jill Hennessy says.
A new prison officer was handcuffed to a chair and wrapped in Chux cloths at the Metropolitan Remand Centre by other officers, the Herald Sun reported on Thursday, prompting Ms Hennessy to warn the corrections system was "not immune from prosecution by WorkSafe."
"It's so important that all of our staff that work in the corrections system are safe and they're not only protected from things like hazing, but they're also provided with workplaces that are physically and mentally safe for them," Ms Hennessy told reporters.
