Vic refugee protest at detention centre

Refugee advocates have organised a protest outside a Melbourne detention centre aiming to stop two asylum seekers from potentially being sent to Nauru.

Protesters will gather outside a Melbourne detention centre at 6am on Tuesday to protest against asylum seekers being sent back to Nauru.

Organiser Chris Breen said a mother and her 16-year-old daughter were being sent to Darwin - a move they feared was the first step in the trip back to Nauru.

He said the mother claimed her daughter had been the subject of an attempted rape by a guard while on the island.
