Vic to probe effect of penalty rates

The stories of Victorians affected by Sunday penalty rate cuts will be heard by a parliamentary committee.

The tales of Victorians affected by the Fair Work Commission's decision to cut Sunday penalty rates will be heard by a parliamentary committee.

The state government made moves on Thursday to establish the committee to examine how it can support workers, with a final report due by September 1.

"Cutting people's take home pay is not fair, it's not right, it does not lead to jobs," Premier Daniel Andrews told reporters on Thursday.
