Vic toddler snatcher to leave jail

A young woman who snatched a toddler from Federation Square has been sentenced to a two-year community corrections order.

A Melbourne woman who snatched a toddler playing in Federation Square has been released from prison after serving 196 days.

Annalise McMillan, 20, was on Tuesday sentenced to a two-year community corrections order for the July 2014 incident.

McMillan served 196 days of pre-sentence detention after being taken into custody when she was discovered to have breached her bail conditions.

Victorian County Court Chief Judge Michael Rozenes said McMillan had a history of schizophrenia and her moral culpability was significantly diminished by her mental illness.
