Vic union officials banned from work sites

Two Victorian CFMEU officials with a history of misconduct on construction sites are no longer allowed to enter work sites.

Two Victorian CFMEU officials have been refused entry permits to construction sites because the workplace regulator does not believe they are "fit and proper" people.

The Fair Work Commission rejected applications by Alex Tadic and Drew MacDonald to renew their right of entry - which allows them to carry out CFMEU business on work sites - because both men have failed to show they won't repeat previous misconduct.

In handing down his decision to refuse Mr MacDonald the permit, vice-president Graeme Watson said he had not paid fines imposed on him and had left the matters for the union legal department to deal with.

He also said Mr Tadic had taken little interest in the legal proceedings.

A third official, Mark Travers, received a permit but it has conditions attached.

Fair Work Building and Construction director Nigel Hadgkiss said the permits should not be treated as "tickets allowing site access for officials who want to behave unlawfully".
