Vic woman forced to take taxi to hospital

A Victorian woman has been forced to take a taxi to hospital to avoid a two-hour wait for an ambulance.

A woman in regional Victoria has been forced to take a taxi to hospital because no ambulance was available.

Andrew Porter told 3AW he arrived at his Bacchus Marsh home on Monday morning to find his son's girlfriend "doubled over in the foetal position" in pain, and was sent a taxi because of a two-hour ambulance wait.

While it is uncommon, triple-zero operators can arrange taxis when non-urgent care is required and a patient has no other means of transport, Ambulance Victoria said in a statement to AAP.
