Vic woman's python wraps round her neck

A Melbourne woman has been taken to hospital with neck injuries after her two-metre python wrapped around her neck while she was on the phone.

A pet python has wrapped itself around a Melbourne woman's neck while she was on the phone.

The two-metre-long snake squeezed her neck several times before she managed to free herself and dial triple-zero.

Paramedic Jason Pitman said the woman had breathing problems and was taken to Box Hill Hospital on Monday night.

"She had neck injuries and was suffering a headache and blurred vision due to the fact the snake had been wrapped so tightly around her neck," he said.

The woman put the python back in its enclosure before calling paramedics.

Ambulance Victoria appreciated the move, saying it was a good idea to lock up pets who might react to strangers in the home.
