Vickery, Newman to miss AFL Dreamtime

Ty Vickery and Chris Newman have been ruled out by Richmond for their AFL clash with Essendon this weekend.

Richmond will miss Ty Vickery for just a fortnight despite the forward suffering a serious looking injury in their upset 33-point AFL win over Port Adelaide on Sunday.

Vickery was substituted out of the match after tackling Matthew Lobbe, injuring his knee and ankle in the process.

While the 24-year-old's yelps of pain seemed to suggest the worst, scans have revealed only minor damage to his ankle and bone bruising in his knee.

A club statement suggests Vickery will miss just one to two weeks.

Veteran Chris Newman also won't play in the Tigers round nine match with Essendon after the club put back his return from a groin injury.

Young forward Liam McBean will need to pass a fitness test to play in the Dreamtime at `the G' match on Saturday night after the 20-year-old injured his thumb.

Midfielder Reece Conca, who has yet to feature in the AFL this season, will miss at least four weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in the VFL.
