A fire that went right up to houses in the Victorian town of Healesville has been contained.
Lightning sparked the fire in a heavily-wooded area in a housing estate on the north western side of the Yarra Valley town.
Helicopters dropped water on the fire as it went right up to homes, saving the properties.
"It certainly got very close to homes," a spokesman for the State Control Centre said.
There's been no reports of any property losses from the Friday afternoon blaze.
Healesville, about 50km northeast of the Melbourne city centre, is home to about 6800 people.
