Hundreds of firefighters have marched through Melbourne's city centre in protest at state government cuts to fire services.
Holding placards, they have been joined by residents from the fire-affected town of Morwell for the march from Trades Hall through the CBD.
"No ifs, no buts, no fire service cuts," protesters chanted.
The United Firefighters Union says the Napthine government has failed to deliver 342 extra firefighters promised after the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.
The Morwell residents are unhappy with the response by authorities to the coal mine blaze which sent smoke across the town for weeks.
The protest will end on the steps of Parliament House.
United Firefighters Union state secretary Peter Marshall addressed the rally on the steps of Parliament House.
"I have not seen an attack on fire services like we are seeing from this Napthine-Wells government," he told the crowd.
Morwell resident Howard Williams told the rally he couldn't believe the community was being put at risk by government cuts to the fire budget.
"I'm staggered to find this government is actually reducing your resources," he said.
