Victorian police hunt phone box bombers

Police are trying to catch some 'not so bright sparks' who have been blowing up phone and letter boxes across Geelong.

A gang of phone box bombers is using explosives to send the Telstra relics sky-high in Victoria.

Police say vandals have probably used homemade explosives to blow up five telephone boxes and four private letterboxes over the past three months around the Geelong area.

All the explosions have occurred at night or in the early hours of the morning and investigators believe the crooks could be blowing up the boxes with illegal fireworks.
