Victorian teen and phone rescued from mine

A teenager who lost his phone down an old mine and went down to retrieve it has been plucked to safety.

A teen who lost his phone down a Victorian mine sparked a rescue operation when he got stuck trying to retrieve the device.

The 13-year-old became stuck in the old mine shaft on Tills Road at Warrandyte and was discovered by a passerby about 5pm on Friday.

He was rescued by authorities about 6pm.

"He was checked over by paramedics at the scene but was not injured. He managed to retrieve his phone," Victoria Police say.
