Victorian teen attacked by intruder

A Victorian teenager has been attacked in her own home after disturbing a man who broke in.

A teenage girl will need surgery after being attacked by an intruder in her Victorian home.

Police say the man broke into the Wallington home, near Geelong, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 16-year-old girl disturbed him during the invasion and he assaulted her before fleeing.

She was taken to Geelong Hospital suffering a serious cut to her arm and other minor injuries, and police say she will need surgery.

It is not known whether anything was stolen during the break-in.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who saw a white Toyota Camry sedan parked on Rhinds Rd around the time of the attack.

The intruder is described as thin and tall, and aged between 20-30.
