Hidden cameras followed the male couple as they strolled through major thoroughfares and a marketplace. Some passers-by are heard calling them "gay sons of bitches" and "dirty gays".
The website Ynet said it decided to stage the experiment following the death of 16-year-old Shira Banki, who was stabbed in the back during a gay pride march in the city last month. Five others were also injured in the attack.
The son of a former Israeli parliamentarian was later charged with inciting violence after he allegedly praised the attack on social media.
The video appears to be inspired by a similar experiment last year where a woman was secretly filmed being harassed on the streets New York City.
More recently, a hidden camera show in Russia filmed two men copping abuse as they held hands walking through the streets of Moscow.
