Videos to teach disaster preparedness

It's hoped a new animated video series will help Pacific Island residents become better prepared for environmental disasters.

It's hoped a new animated video series will help Pacific Island residents become better prepared for environmental disasters.

 

The videos bring together Pacific traditional knowledge with climate sciences and will be shown to affected communities.

 

The initiative, which will feature accompanying resources, is the work of the Australian Red Cross and several regional science agencies.

 

Mr Nihmei Salesa is a meteorologist from the Pacific Regional Environment Programme in Nadi, Fiji.

 

He's told Zara Zaher small island nations in the Pacific are vulnerable to extreme weather, including droughts, cyclones and flooding.
