Giants midcourter Taylah Davies has huge boots to fill in place of injured skipper Kim Green.
However, the 22-year-old says her job is made easier as her good friend and team mate doesn't hold back in telling her where she can improve her game.
Davies made her starting debut for the top of the table Giants in their 59-51 loss to the Melbourne Vixens on Saturday night.
It was the western Sydney side's first full game without Green (ACL) and the loss ended the their five-game undefeated run in the competition.
While the Giants missed Green, Davies combined well in the attacking line and contributed with nine goal assists, 15 centre pass receives and 20 feeds. She was only penalised twice and made two turnovers.
Davies' opponent Chloe Watson had a stand out game for the Vixens and she helped force a change in the midcourt with a quarter to play which saw Davies benched.
Davies said she wanted to improve with every game.
"I think I did some things well but there are some simple things that I need to work on and adjust," Davies told AAP.
"Obviously on to take the WA bib, Kim Green's boots are pretty hard to fill, she's such an awesome player, just the way she goes about her business, you can't really do that to her level.
"I know it's hard for some people to come back after injury but Kim's been at two of our sessions already and she's right in there so I'm trying to soak up as much as I can from her.
"She's been unreal, she's already been telling me what I should work on and what I should do for the next weeks and that's pretty special."
Looking ahead to round seven and the NSW Swifts clash, Giants coach Julie Fitzgerald said wants to see improvement from her attacking line.
"With Kim's absence we knew we wouldn't be able to fix it overnight; she's one-of-a-kind and we will continue to re-jig our attacking combinations in her absence," she said.
"It's a work in progress, but I'm happy with our work so far and we will continue to build that over the next few weeks."
