Another steady performance from goal shooter Karyn Bailey has guided the Melbourne Vixens to a four-goal win over Mainland Tactix at Hisense Arena in Melbourne.
The win was Melbourne's fourth in succession against New Zealand opposition for the season and put the Vixens in to third place in the Australian conference on Sunday.
Bailey shot 30 goals from 33 attempts as the defending champions steadied late in the match for a 56-52 victory over the winless Tactix.
The Tactix stayed with the Vixens all contest and after leading 26-25 at half time, they maintained a narrow lead deep into the third quarter.
Goal attack Bailey Mes (32 goals from 35) and Mwai Kumwenda (17 from 20) were an agile and quick moving duo for the Tactix.
Kumwenda only came into the game midway through the second quarter, replacing Gemma Hazeldine (3 from 5).
But Melbourne's Bailey and goal attack Tegan Philip (26 goals from 33) capitalised on some Tactix errors to earn a three goal lead by the final break and the Vixens' experience guided them to the hard-fought four goal win.
