Vixens' Honey to miss Super Netball season

Melbourne Vixens mid-courter, Tayla Honey will miss the 2019 Super Netball season after tearing her Achilles tendon.

Melbourne Vixens mid-courter, Tayla Honey will miss the 2019 Super Netball season, with scans confirming she has torn her Achilles tendon.

Honey, who signed with the Vixens in September, suffered the injury at training on Wednesday night and was expected to undergo surgery on Saturday.

Head coach Simone McKinnis says the Vixens are devastated to lose one of their newest recruits who had shown real potential in pre-season training.

Honey has been in the Vixens' system since 2017 but was only named in their team list in Rounds 7-13 last year, replacing an injured Khao Watts.

"Tayla has been a part of the Vixens family for a couple of years, so this is definitely felt throughout the whole Vixens camp," McKinnis said.

"The Vixens' medical staff has done a great job over the last few days to assist Tayla with this injury and will continue to support her during her rehabilitation."
