Troubled education group Vocation is paying back $8 million to the Victorian government and recalling the qualifications of 1,100 students.
The drastic measures are part of the closure of two of Vocation's businesses, caused by the withdrawal in 2014 of $20 million in government funding due to substandard practices.
The company has reached agreement on the terms of the second closure, which will involve the withdrawal of about 1,100 qualifications achieved by students in 2014.
These relate to programs in aged care, children's services, business administration and competitive systems and practices, and units in first aid and assist clients with medication.
Vocation will repay about $8 million to the Victorian government over the next 18 months, an amount the company said was within the amount it had set aside to cover the closure of its businesses.
The company suffered a $273 million loss in the first half of the current financial year amid the massive changes to its business, but has said it can remain a viable provider of education.
It said on Monday it has undertaken a comprehensive review of its compliance with regulatory requirements, and established a quality and compliance team.
"The company remains committed to the highest levels of compliance across its business going forward," Vocation said.
The company's shares closed up half a cent at 14.5 cents.
The shares were worth $2.29 before the withdrawal of government funding in October 2014.
