Adam Voges has not completely given up on his dream of playing Test cricket for Australia and if he keeps up his career-best what the future holds is anyone's guess.
His claim further amplified by Australian captain Michael Clarke leaving the Adelaide Oval during the middle session of day five with a hamstring injury.
Voges continues to look more composed and dominant at the crease the more he matures and despite his age, his recent performances are becoming hard to ignore by the national selectors.
Voges scored a century in each innings as WA lost to Victoria in the Sheffield Shield match completed on Friday at the WACA Ground with 101 in the first innings and then a defiant, unbeaten 139 in the second despite the wickets tumbling around him.
Voges has now scored 509 runs at 101.8 this Shield season with three centuries from nine innings and that comes on the back of him averaging almost 55 last season for WA and nearly 55 in county cricket with Middlesex in 2013.
Having already played 31 ODIs and seven Twenty20 games for Australia, he hasn't given up hope of playing Test cricket.
"Maybe I haven't completely given up. I think it's still a dream and the reality might possibly not be there, but I'll just keep trying to bat as well as I can and you can't worry about those things too much," Voges said.
"You go through Mike Hussey, Chris Rogers and those sort of guys so there's always that glimmer of hope. It's still a dream but that's all it is at the moment.
"I feel like I'm hitting them well at the moment.
"Whether I've played better I'm not entirely sure, but as an individual performance this is probably the best I've played in one game."
Voges is now looking forward to the upcoming Big Bash where his Perth Scorchers are looking to defend their title.
While the Scorchers have lost Craig Simmons, Simon Katich, Pat Cummins and could be without Shaun Marsh, Mitch Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile through either injury or national selection, they have added Michael Carberry, Michael Klinger and James Muirhead.
