Volleyroos down India at Asian Champs

The Volleyroos have progressed to the second round of the Asian Championship with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 win over India.

The Australian men's volleyball team has beaten India in straight sets to move into the second round of the Asian Championships in Tehran.

After suffering a shock 3-1 loss to Qatar in their opening match, then bouncing back beat lowly-ranked Turkmenistan in straight sets, the Volleyroos had needed to beat world No.39-ranked India to guarantee a top-two finish in their pool.

The Australians set about achieving their goal with a dominant display on Sunday, accounting for India 25-19, 25-19, 25-16.

Undefeated Qatar topped the pool and will join Australia in the next round against China and Japan.

Australia came into the Asian Championships as the second-ranked team behind host-nation Iran, who are chasing their third consecutive title.
